Field Notes from Nairobi

When a 3 a.m. phone call summons Bristol vet Amara Mwangi back to Kenya, she finds her father silenced by a stroke, his beloved Ngong Road clinic ninety days from repossession, and a snared lioness on the plains that no one else can save. Two weeks of leave becomes a season of floods, lions and long-buried letters, as Amara learns what her father never could: how to ask the people around her to walk beside her.
