Seasons in Achchi’s Garden

When her mother vanishes to Italy leaving only a note on the rice cooker, sixteen-year-old Nethmi is sent to live with the stern grandmother she barely knows, in a hillside garden above Kandy with one locked shed she must never open. Over a year of monsoons, festivals and grafted mango trees, she uncovers the silence at the heart of her family — and must decide whether the truth will break three generations of women or finally bring them home.
