Under the Kohomba Tree

When his silent father is found dead at the roots of the old neem tree in the family garden, London radiographer Ashan Herath flies to Kurunegala for the funeral and finds a house strung with white flags, an aunt who lights a lamp every night for a boy nobody will name, and a lock of his own hair cut from his head in a locked room. Seven days remain until the Esala full moon, and something under the kohomba tree has been waiting since 1983 for the family to remember what they owe.
