From the book

At the foot of the great Lion Rock of Sigiriya lived a baby elephant called Ruvini. She had big pink ears and two tiny golden wings. Every night, when the other elephants were snoring, Ruvini lay wide awake, looking up at the moon. “Moon,” she whispered, “why do you only shine at night?” The moon only smiled and slid behind a cloud. “I will climb the rock,” said Ruvini, “and ask the moon face to face.” The steps were steep. At the Lion Gate, two giant stone paws were taller than she was. A cheeky monkey laughed. “Elephants don’t climb rocks!” “This one does,” said Ruvini, and she took one step, then another.
