Three Sisters of Matara

In 1986, when the sea takes their father's boat, three sisters on the southern coast of Sri Lanka make a promise on a black rock at Polhena: whatever happens, they will come back. One stays in Matara, one leaves to work as a housemaid in Dubai, and one becomes a doctor in Melbourne, and over forty years of letters, lies, love and loss, that promise is tested in ways none of them could imagine.
